If you are getting ready for your first escape room experience, chances are high that you want to make the most of it. Here are some tips that will help you have fun and escape the room in time.
Listen Carefully To The Introduction
You will be given an introduction to the escape room before you begin. As tempting as it may be to jump right into solving puzzles, there are likely some clues in the backstory of the escape room that can help you out. Pay attention to everything that is told to you since it may not just be filler material designed to flesh out the theme of the room.
Don't Guess Combinations
There will likely be some sort of lock in the escape room that has a combination. Don't make the mistake of trying to guess what the combination is. There will always be a clue to tell you the combination, and it will be faster to solve the clue than to randomly try combinations on a lock. This will help save you a lot of time, and you'll have more fun solving an actual puzzle.
Communicate With Others
It may go without saying, but you need to communicate with everyone you are in the escape room with. Speak out loud and share things that you find that seem odd in the room since it may be the other half of a puzzle that somebody knows about. Don't try to hoard important information because you want to be the one to solve the puzzle.
Ask For Clues If You Need Them
It is possible that you will be stumped and not able to move forward in the escape room. If you feel like it is getting to this point, don't be afraid to ask for a clue. The people running the escape room want you to succeed and win within the time limit since being stuck without help is going to lead to not having much fun. Consider setting a time limit of how many more minutes you will work on a clue before you decide to ask for help so you all can move on.
